Giselle, the most sublime of all romantic ballets, returns to Joburg Theatre in Joburg Ballet’s season of ten performances from Friday 4 to Sunday 13 October in association with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

A heartrending story of love so powerful it reaches from beyond the grave, the ballet’s exquisite dancing lays bare a tale of passion, betrayal and forgiveness with one of the greatest of all ballerina roles at its centre.

Giselle will be staged by artistic director Iain MacDonald and ballet mistress Lauren Slade. Australian-based SA ballet luminary Dawn Weller will coach the dancers in the leading roles.

OPEN DAY
On Sunday 22 September from 10:00 to 13:00 at the Joburg Ballet studios at Joburg Theatre, the ballet company offers a glimpse into its working life as the dancers prepare for Giselle. You have the chance to watch a ballet class, meet the creative team and see the company rehearse sections of the ballet. Tickets are R120 and include refreshments.
